President's Letter By: Barbara Rembiesa, President of IAITAM
Nashville, Tennessee has always been near and dear to my heart. I spent a lot of my childhood in the Nashville area. The memories of the summers at Opryland (which way back was an amusement park) or at a minor-league baseball game singing Elvira in the stands always bring a smile to my face. This past month has been especially rough on Nashville residents with the flood devastation, loss of lives, loss of homes and businesses but it brings great comfort to know that Nashville is going to recover and recover quickly. How to Write an RFP - In response to IAITAM Members, Ed Cartier Shares His Knowledge on Preparing RFP’s for IT Acquisitions By: Ed Cartier, Marketing Director for xAssets US, xAssets Ltd.
In a recent interview, I was asked if knew of a good Request For Proposal (RFP) template that applied to the selection and acquisition of enterprise IT asset management systems. We even call it “software license compliance” and allow actions to be driven by the contract language without questioning the ownership rights derived from copyright law. Software Asset Managers understand license compliance processes, from receipt of a letter, through the development of an audit response team and to the final resolution of the audit. This approach to software compliance can lead to errors related to a specific country’s laws and to stagnant processes that do not reflect changes in copyright laws. Read More...

Non-Compliance... It Happens, and It Hurts! By: Phara McLachlan, CEO of Animus Solutions, Inc.
How is it compliance is generally reactive versus proactive? Just as we often find ourselves vigorously brushing and flossing when we get our dental reminder, or attempt a crash diet just before bathing suit season, we typically get ourselves interested in compliance when we know an audit is just around the corner or you’ve had an audit and have been penalized… Read More...
